OUR TEAM


Mahesh is a senior executive with over 23 years of experience in middle market technology growth companies and in private equity. Most recently he led a proprietary technology company from proof-of-concept to commercialization. Under his leadership the company increased enterprise value, doubled (2x) sales in a four-year period, reached profitability, and generated two new decarbonization spinoff opportunities. His experience includes leading diverse energy investments as a Principal at Potomac Energy Fund, structuring financial transactions and leading engineering diligence for $400 Million+ solar projects at the US DOE Loan Program, and engineering novel emission control technologies at Johnson Matthey. He has an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Akron.


Preston holds a B.A. in Economics with a focus in energy through the SMU Cox School of Business. During college, Preston developed an oil company in honor of his late father. He then went to LPI, where he developed his knowledge of Rare Earth industry. Preston founded Momentum in 2016 and was honored to be selected for the Forbes 30 Under 30 in Energy class of 2021.


Rob attended the Naval Academy where he graduated with honors. He has a M.S. and PhD in Physics from Caltech. Rob consulted for McKinsey & Co and was previously an in-house entrepreneur for Hunt Oil and Sevin Rosen Funds.


Wes has spent over 30 years developing database driven technology solutions for companies like Westinghouse, Securitas, and Equifax. He has specialized in working for smaller startups where the ability to adapt to changing roles and responsibilities is needed. Most recently, Wes was working as a fractional CIO helping businesses to implement large company technology solutions at small size business costs.


Turab is a climate enthusiast and a finance and accounting professional. He has experience as an investor, a CFO, an investment banker, and an auditor. He completed a Master in Professional Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin in 2011 and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2019.


15 years of experience in developing and commercializing novel membrane technologies. Simon was VP of Product Management at Gradiant, and CTO of Seppure Technologies. He obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology focusing on membrane fabrication and characterization.


William received his B.S in chemistry from Tarleton State University. He continued his studies at the University of North Texas where he received his PhD in chemistry. Research areas focused on theoretical inorganic chemistry, organometallics, and third-row transition metal catalysis.


Kenneth holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana. He started his professional journey in analytical chemistry at Albemarle, where he gained expertise in diverse projects and various instruments. Kenneth advanced to supervising the analytical lab team, then transitioned to Research and Development at W.R. Grace in the catalyst group. Kenneth spearheads the MSX Pilot Plant for the scale-up process at Momentum Technologies.


Amanda has over 10 years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, event planning, and storytelling. Throughout her career, she has helped create award-winning communication campaigns, developed strategies for company news dissemination, and managed large internal and external corporate events. Amanda has a B.A. in Communication from Texas A&M University.


Anliesa has extensive experience in audit, tax, and regulatory compliance, gained through both industry and public accounting. She has collaborated with medium to large global and private companies, overseeing financial matters and compliance projects in over 30 countries. Anliesa holds an MBA and is a CPA.


Sable has seven years of experience working as a Process Engineer in mining and engineering consulting. Throughout her career she has supported mining operations for Rio Tinto and completed engineering projects from the conceptual level to detailed engineering across a variety of commodities. Sable’s academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology as well as a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Toronto.


Sumukh received his B.E. in Chemical Engineering from Mumbai University. He further received his M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Southern California. He has two years of experience in designing and implementing innovative chemical processes that drive efficiency and minimize environmental impact. Before joining Momentum, he worked on designing, developing, and optimizing Lithium extraction processes. Sumukh will help lead the further development of the MSX process.


Jake received a B.S in Chemistry from the University of North Texas. After graduating, he has pursued a career in analytical chemistry by working in a variety of industries that require accurate quantification of specific analytes. He has hands-on experience operating and maintaining analytical instruments such as ICP-OES, LC-PDA, and GC-MS. He looks forward to utilizing his skill set to improve and develop methods and technologies that lessen environmental impact.


Amanda holds a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of North Texas, where she conducted research focused on the synthesis of bimetallic complexes. Prior to joining the R&D team, she worked in quality control, gaining practical expertise in analytical methods, regulatory standards, and process optimization. Amanda brings a rigorous, research-driven approach to developing innovative solutions and ensuring scientific integrity across projects.


Maya earned her B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Environmental Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas. She works in Momentum’s analytical lab, where she is able to pursue her passion for meaningful research that paves the way to a healthier, safer environment.


Jack is a graduate from Michigan State University where he received a B.S in Chemical Engineering and a Business minor. He previously interned at 3M, Corteva Agriscience, and Amcor Packaging. Through these internships, he has gained a broad range of experiences in R&D, production engineering and technology, and patent analysis.


Wayez is a leader in technology operations, known for scaling breakthrough manufacturing platforms across the semiconductor, photonics, and advanced materials industries. With more than 25 years of experience, he has played a pivotal role in taking innovations from R&D to full-scale production, leading projects valued at over $300 million and managing facilities as large as 700,000 square feet. Wayez has held senior leadership roles at both disruptive startups and Fortune 500 companies, earning a reputation for operational excellence, cross-functional execution, and strategic growth. He holds Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering from Caltech and the University of Toronto, and has completed executive education in leadership, operations strategy, and cybersecurity at MIT, Stanford, and UT Austin.


Jostin Jones is a U.S. Air Force veteran and experienced chemical operator with seven years of industrial operations expertise. He brings a strong foundation in process control, safety protocols, and technical execution, honed through both military service and hands-on industry experience. At Momentum, Jostin supports the safe and efficient operation of our systems, applying a disciplined, detail-oriented approach to daily plant activities.


With over 20 years of experience in all functions of the People Operations layout, Nicole specializes in partnering with start-ups to bring their HR foundation to life. Nicole is a connector dedicated to creating an engaged and empowered workforce that carries a sense of belonging and commitment to an organization.
